    About

    Olivia Smith is an Emmy Award-winning, multi-platform journalist based in Los Angeles. She is the Executive Producer of Next Generation Storytelling at ABC7. Olivia focuses on telling stories for all media platforms in addition to supervising and training others at the company. Prior to ABC7, Olivia helped build the digital video teams for ABC News National and Good Morning America.

    Olivia has reported from the Oscars, from a marijuana field, from the top of a mountain and from a sleeper bus across the country. She has covered topics like female genital cutting and black market drugs. Olivia has been to wildfires, chased kidnappers, traveled to political conventions and even become a mermaid for a day.

    Olivia has a number of passion projects outside of her day job. She is the founder and creator of Get Savvy with Social, a media and lifestyle company and blog, and she offers media consulting services. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Olivia is a Certified Nutrition Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well. She is also a children’s book author of a series she created with her father about detective dogs.

    Olivia is a content creator with extensive experience of 20+ years in print, broadcast, multimedia and digital journalism, as well as with local, national and international reporting. She has worked on stories for several media organizations throughout her career, including CNN, CNN Business, 60 Minutes, Al Jazeera, NY1 News and the Columbia Journalism Review.

    Olivia’s favorite part of working as a journalist is learning something new every day, and she wants to use this platform to share that with you. From tick bites and food allergies, to mastering wellness routines, to trying out cryotherapy firsthand, to reporting on FGC/FGM in the U.S., Olivia has experience with a wide range of health-related topics.

    Being “healthy” isn’t always easy and often isn’t seen as “fun.” Who doesn’t like indulging now and then?

    Olivia focuses on better understanding health so as to maintain a happy life balance, while still getting the chance to treat yourself at times without having that nagging guilt.
